Cicada Triptych
Cicada Triptych
I love the summer cicada chant in Japanese gardens. There is something calming and nostalgic hearing the sound echoing in the hot summer air. Compared to the years spent underground, these creatures spend so little time in the trees. So the sound also reminds me to be present in whatever I am doing.
I collected the specimens of a cicada exoskeleton, a green beetle, and winged cicada, and captured all the little details in this triptych using copic black marker and white conte on bright Zimbabwean cotton rag paper. Mounted on white and framed in black.
