Thankful for in 2022

In the face of a global recession and environmental concerns, I believe it is important to hold to and be thankful for the good. Here are some of the 2022 opportunities I am grateful for in my journey of building a creative business on a foundation of sustainable principles.

Inspiration & new art

Everywhere we have lived has brought fresh inspiration for my art and jewelry. Japan continues to inspire me every day with its nature, shrines, and even food.

Connection with materials

From connecting me with discarded material like old roof tiles to creating rope from scrap kimono or paper with recycled pulps. My finished works are the sum of these materials.

Space to exhibit

After two years without an art exhibition, I had the opportunity for a solo exhibition at Moshimo Cafe + Event Space in Hayama centering around sustainability including an opening event with Nippon Viajero.

Metalsmithing from masters

After years of mostly being self-taught, I have a regular place to learn metalsmithing including traditional Japanese techniques from master metalsmiths at Aoyama School of Jewelry and Metalsmithing.

Recognizing the good that is being done and the role you have been able to play with sustainable choices is important.
