Packaging Beyond One Time Use

Packaging presentation is such a huge part of the products we buy. On some occasions it seems rather wasteful to just toss a well made box. So, why not upcylce it?

This is a great option for gift boxes that can be used a few times or for attractive home storage. You can do something as straightforward as strategically covering markings with a cheerful paper, or you can spend a little more time and break out your art supplies.

If you subscribe to my newsletter, this month I am offering a free printable letter sized sheet of my first repeat pattern. You can see how I use it here on some boxes. I printed my design on a parchment paper for an earthier look.

1. Select a paper and any other items that could transform the box like ribbon, ink, and decorative tape.

2. Trim the paper to size with a paper cutter or some good scissors. Double check the size, then cover the back in glue. If you are using a liquid glue, use a tooth pick and apply sparingly so the paper does not bubble.

3. Paint, ink, or a contrasting paper could be a great solution for variation if there are a lot of markings you want to cover. I went with sumi ink on this one.

4. Add a ribbon, label, sticker, or colorful tape. In the end, this upcylced ribbon was just enough to make it gift ready.
