Remember the other R's- Reduce and Reuse

  • Quality products that last.

    • These may cost more up front, but you will spend less if you are not continuing to replace again and again.

  • Food and lifestyle items with limited packaging or packaging that can be composted.

    • Farmers markets and bulk shops are great.

  • Reusable items to replace one time use items.

    • Politely refuse the one time use bag, straw, plastic cup, or other item.

  • Consider purchases instead of buying impulsively.

  • Glass

  • Boxes

  • Plastics

    • Wash and reuse plastics intended for one time use.

    • Replace these with items that can be reused longer like silicone bake sheets and bags instead of tin foil and plastic zipper bags.

  • Food Scraps

    • Compost of course! You will reduce waste and get some lovely rich soil out of it.

  • Supplies

  • Clothing

    • Buy at brick and motor or online consignment shops.

    • Repair minor damage with a few stitches or a tailor.

    • Use really worn clothes for cleaning.
